I love summer! The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays so when Shawn took off for this week, I was more than excited! Now that’s he is back at work, I’m back to blogging!
Shawn and I didn’t waste a day or night and spent summer every minute doing something fun! To start off the week, Shawn took me to see Wicked, my absolute favorite! It was a gift to me back in April because he knows how much I love it. It was my third or fourth time seeing Wicked, but I never get tired of it! It was fun for me that Shawn was finally able to see it too. I think he was a little worried that he’d be bored to death but he ended up really enjoying everything! We both like going to The Fox and every once in awhile we try to go and see something. It’s great because Shawn works right across the street so we have free parking and get on the highway fast!
Since it was my gift I was able to get Shawn in a picture! Shawn even let me ask someone to take it for us! He really doesn’t like pictures.
The next day we went registering for our wedding! We took it slow and only registered at one store a day. Ok, I take that back. We went to Crate and Barrel and Sears the same day. When Shawn was registering for tools at Sears, I took a detour in the mall and bought myself a new pair of shoes! For those that are wondering, we also registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. We’re waiting on Pottery Barn’s new bedding to get in because I can’t find anything I want anywhere else. I just love Pottery Barn bedding. I thought I didn’t need to register for a lot of things, but I really did. I registered for a ton of party items like platters and large utensils. I love throwing a festive shower or holiday party and I’m always in need of that stuff!
At night we decided to get out and enjoy the cool temperatures (unreal in STL!) and head to the outdoor movie theater. It’s all the way in Belleville, IL, which is a good hour from where I live. We were all ready with blankets, cash, and a cooler to watch Toy Story 3. Apparently everyone else in the general vicinity was too because getting there an hour and a half early was not early enough. We drove all the way there and then came back home because they were sold out!!! After driving back to Wildwood, Shawn and I decided to play Mario Cart instead. (We’re still kids at heart!)
Of course I took some pictures in the car while on the way!
July 3rd was a fun night. We met up with some of my High School friends. It was so nice because everyone was able to get together and we haven’t been able to do that in a long time. My friend Cassidy came from New York City so it was great to see her! The next time we see each other might be at our wedding! Everyone else told me they would go on a float trip in the next few weeks if I plan it. (You better believe I’m going to get on that this week!) After dinner, we went to Shawn’s friends house and we sat out and enjoyed watching neighbors set off huge fireworks. They have the best neighbors ever. Everyone is friends and they all sit outside on the weekends and hang out. Shawn and I love that. (Shawn jokes that we should invite everyone over from our condo. It would be interesting to say the least!) Of course, I didn’t take any pictures this night. I never do when I’m with friends. I’m so bad…but I have so much fun talking and having a good time that I forget to take pictures! It’s crazy, I know!
The 4th of July was celebrated at my parents house…which is kind of tradition. They have a lot of land so we’ve been shooting off fireworks since we were little. This year it seemed that so many neighbors were doing the same. For my dad’s sake, I’m going to say he was the winner of the firework war.
Isn’t their deck amazing?! I want one just like it one day. Good thing my dad built it…I hope he can recreate it!
Grandma and Grandpa Stasiak even stayed for the fireworks!
My mom told me she looks like Scarlett in this picture! She said it, not me!
Her eyes are much smaller than Scarlett’s. I promise you!
The rest of the week we spent by the pool, working on our tan and reading. We went to the library and loaded up on tons of books to read for enjoyment! That’s right…I had time to read a few books…for fun! Did you know the library checks out books, books on tape, CDs, DVDs, and Wii games… that’s right…Wii games. Isn’t that weird? No, I didn’t bring home a Wii game but I just might have to next time! If they rented out camera lenses I’d be set!
I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
